We are once again planning a Church Weekend Away, this time on our own and not so far away!!
A weekend away is a unique opportunity for us to spend an extended time looking at The Bible together and developing our relationships. Everyone is welcome and all costs will be covered if necessary.
Dates: Friday 16th – 18th February 2023
Venue: Ilam Hall, Ilam, Ashbourne DE6 2AZ
See the venue details here
The speaker will be Tim Chester. Tim is most famous for being frequently quoted by Mark Selby from Grace Church, Hilton. He has many years pastoral experience and is currently part of a church plant in rural Derbyshire. He was one of the main teachers for the Porterbrook Seminary where Mark and Chris trained, and continues to teach with Crosslands Training. He has written a number of books which we have often recommended!
We are yet to decide what he will he will be teaching us on our weekend away.
The plan is for the children to follow a similar teaching pattern with a team from Emmanuel Bath and we are working on arrangements for the older kids!

This 17th Century gothic manor sits in 84 acres of National Trust parkland, with the beauty of Dovedale just on its doorstep. The beautiful youth hostel is full of character and nestled near the quaint village of Ilam.
Families will have a room to themselves, most with en suite. Most of us are together on one floor.
Things to bring
All the usual stuff you will need for a weekend, including outdoor clothes if you want to go for the walk, including…
– A Bible, notebook and pen.
– A Mug/Cup and a refillable water bottle.
– Indoor shoes/slippers
– Towel
(All bedding is provided)
Parking
The car park is National Trust. If you are a member of the National Trust then parking is free. If not, then there is a reduced rate of £2 per night for guests of the Youth Hostel. DO NOT use the Pay and Display machine. When you check into the hostel they will sell you a ticket to be displayed. If you let me know I can get some ready.
Meals
Breakfast and Dinner orders will be taken nearer the time. These will be served canteen style by hostel staff between agreed times. It would good if we all ate together.
Lunch on Saturday will depend on what we decide with regards to the programme. We will be providing lunch between us. There is a small kitchen to store things in, it would be good for them to be labeled.
Those bringing their own food can also store it in the kitchen, again it should be labeled.
Cost
The elders see the weekend away as an important weekend in the life of the church so we have money set aside to pay for it. If you would like to contribute towards it then we will publish a rough cost per person nearer the time.
